From The Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library in Tewksbury:
"Go Hog Wild! Feed the Pigs! Children asked to support programs via a piggy bank coin drive.
This past summer, nearly 900 children participated in the summer reading program, funded by the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library. Now, we look toward the leadership of our youthful patrons to help support the Summer Reading Program for 2010.
The Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library, in conjunction with Miss Noelle and Miss Amy, our children’s librarians, are encouraging our kids to lend support with a Feed the Pigs bank coin drive. "It is so important that children understand the value of their library and to know that they can make a difference in the programs here." says Miss Amy. Miss Noelle wanted the coin drive to be fun. "Giving to others is a key component in helping children to develop into caring, well-rounded people. Pair that with a fun opportunity to help out the library that they love and we’ve got a winning combination. We’re hoping the kids will have an oinker of a good time feeding our pigs and watching how their contributions add up."
During the month of October, children can donate coins to feed the piggy banks named for famous literary pigs. Who can forget Piglet, Babe, Charlotte’s Wilbur, Mercy Watson or Olivia? Which piggy bank will fill the fastest?"
