From The Friends of the Woburn Public Library in Woburn:
"The Woburn Public Library Annual Auction and Dinner (the "Library Gala") will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Café Escadrille in Burlington at 6:00 p.m.. This event is the major fundraising event for our library.
This is our 6th Gala and the Committee under Chairman Joanne McNamee’s direction has been working very hard to make the event interesting and unique. For example, at this year’s event author Christopher Klein will entertain us with stories from his recently published book “The Die-Hard Sports Fan’s Guide to Boston”. He will talk about Boston’s legendary sports history and provide some little-known facts that will test the knowledge of even the most die-hard fan.
A lucky bidder will also have the chance to see his/her name used as a character in well-known author Hank Phillippi Ryan’s next mystery novel. This could also make an interesting holiday gift for a loved one!
The popular wine cellar raffle will also be available. Tickets are $20.00 and will be sold at the event and also at the library. The winner is guaranteed a minimum 50 bottles of wine.
New this year will be an opportunity to be the recipient of a “mystery ticket” which gives the winner an automatic $500.00 in cash. This can be won only by someone in attendance at the gala.
The live auction features a one week stay in beautiful Cruz Bay in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands in a two level loft condo. A view of St. Thomas is included for free to the lucky winner of this “vacation in Paradise”.
The Escadrille provides a wonderful venue for our event. Come relax with friends in their lovely function rooms before enjoying a superb dinner.
